Landscaping For Renters

Happy August from Desert Rose! This month's blog will review landscaping options for renters. Whether it is short-term or long-term, adding your own touch to the yard can help make a house feel like your home!

We understand when it comes to rentals landscaping is a little more complex, especially depending on your landlord. There are a variety of ways that landlords make agreements with tenants about landscaping, including sharing expenses or crediting rent costs for the amount spent on the landscaping. However, if the landlord doesn’t want to do any of the above, we have some ideas to help you personalize your yard without losing your investment.

The easiest way to spruce up your yard is to buy some pots and plant them. You can easily add a battery-powered irrigation system for carefree pots. Plus, it doesn’t have to be just flowers, some trees such as smaller pine trees do exceptionally well in large pots. If you decide to move you can easily take the pots and the battery-powered timer with you.

Another option is a raised wooden flower bed that can be used for either flowers or vegetables. If and when you decide to go elsewhere, simply take apart the flowerbed and reassemble it at your new home. Lastly, it is possible to purchase a self-contained water feature that is above ground. These can be found at home improvement stores and most of them are straightforward to set up. Simply place on a level surface, fill with water and plug in!

We hope this blog provides some ideas for those who are renting. These small changes can make a big difference in your yard and provide improvements that you can take with you wherever you go!
