Plant of the Week 02/19/2021

Daffodil Narcissus Zone 3-8

Dark green foliage that resembles green onions emerges from the ground in early spring. Shortly after, beautiful trumpet-like flowers begin to appear. The flowers are unique and have a trumpet-like center that is attached to a star-shaped flower. The star-like flower is either white or highlighter yellow.

Before planting the bulbs select a location that receives full to part sun. Make sure to plant each bulb 2-3 times deeper than the height of the bulb. For example plant a 2" tall bulb at least 4" but not more than 6" deep. Space at least 3 inches apart. Plant in large groups or along pathways for the greatest effect. Be careful to not overwater the bulbs since they are prone to root rot. Water occasionally. Deer and rodent resistant.
