Plant of the Week 06/18/2021
Poppy Mallow
Callirhoe involucrata
Zone 4-8
Beautiful, "wine cup" flowers on a tender stem rise above a thick mat of dark green, thin-leaved foliage. Blooms continuously from mid-spring to early fall. A moderate grower that can reach 12" tall and 3' wide.
Plant in full sun for best growth. Water regularly until established, then water occasionally. Drought tolerant. For luscious, overflowing groundcover; space plants 2' apart. Looks great near water features, rock gardens, or just about anywhere. Be mindful when planting near walkways since this can quickly grow onto the walkway and could be a tripping hazard.
This plant produces a lot of viable seeds and has a tendency to spread. Cut back when the foliage dies in early winter.
