Plant of the Week 11/06/2020
Cliff Fendlerbush
Fendlera rupicola
Zone 4-7
Beautiful white, four petal flowers are scattered throughout this bush in spring. Small, dark green petals (similar to a Mt. Mahogany) lightly cover the dark brown branches of this shrub. Some shrubs produce flowers that are tinged with a light pink to make this shrub look even better. Other shrubs produce fragrant flowers that have a super sweet scent to them.
Often found in canyons and rocky hillsides, these flowers are often nibbled at by deer. Semi evergreen for year round interest. Plant in full sun. Tolerates a wide variety of soil types.
Water regularly until established. Heat and drought tolerant. Prune regularly to give bush a more full appearance since it has a tendency to get lanky.
