Question of the Week 06/12/2021
Q: What are the downfalls of a battery timer?
A: Although batter timers are convenient, they can have their problems too!
The first would be that they aren't as seamless and hidden as an underground irrigation box. For some, this isn't an issue but for others, the constant eyesore of a bunch of plastic pieces hanging off a faucet can get to them.
Another downfall (although, it has decreased over the past few years) was reliability issues. Some of the timers were getting stuck in the open position and wouldn’t shut off (expensive water bill), while others would say they are running a cycle but wouldn’t open to allow the water through, which over extended periods of time if not caught can severely damage your plants from lack of water. The designs have changed and we have seen fewer occurrences of this happening
