Question of the Week: Blooming Agave!
Q: My agave started blooming this week. Someone told me that it will die after the bloom. Is this true?
A: Yes, the agave will die after it blooms.
The reason is it uses all the energy to develop the stalk and the flowering. As you can tell it grows at a VERY fast pace. Once they die, they will need to be replaced.
Unfortunately, you never know when they will bloom. We have had clients that have waited years for them to bloom and other clients, bloom the same year we plant them.
Enjoy their beauty while it lasts!
