Question of the Week: How to Check for a Leak in Your Water Feature

Q: I have a water feature and I think it has a leak. What is the best way to check?

A: The easiest way to check is to turn off the pump and fill your holding pond to the top. After 24 hours, check the water level. If it’s down a couple of inches, evaporation might be the culprit, and your water flow may not be returning to the holding pond properly. Adjust the water feature as needed. However, if the water level drops more significantly, you likely have a tear in the liner that needs to be replaced.
