Question of the Week: Utah Juniper Stumps
Q: Is there an easy way to remove the stumps of Utah Junipers?
A: Simply put, NOPE!
You have three options:
1. If you are not planning to plants in the same spot, you can use a stump killer or stump remover which can be purchased at your local nursery or Lowe’s/Home Depot. Follow the instructions on the bottle. This takes quite a bit of time for the tree to rot - you must have patience.
2. Hire a company that can use a stump grinder to grind the stump below grade. This option is somewhat expensive as most companies will charge based on the size of the trunk.
3. Dig it out, especially if you want to plant another juniper or tree in it place. This is a time consuming and labor intensive project.
