Question of the Week: Water Feature Woes

Q: My water feature is only dribbling water when I turn it on, but it was fine last year. What could be the issue?

A: There could be several reasons for this problem. Start by ensuring the water feature has an adequate water level. If it does, try cleaning out the holding pond, as it may have accumulated debris over time.

In many cases, a thorough cleaning is necessary. Winter months can lead to the buildup of dirt, sand, or debris, potentially clogging the filter or pump. Begin by accessing the pump through the designated access port, typically installed for easier maintenance.

After cleaning, refill the feature with water and restart the pump. It should ideally resume normal operation.

If the issue persists, unplug the pump and use a garden hose to flush out the output line where water exits the feature. This can dislodge any remaining debris obstructing the flow.

Consider contacting a professional for further diagnosis and repair.

Wishing you a fantastic day!
